Heading to Maine and they tell me not to eat Lobster

How ironic that a few days before I head out on my trip through New England the FDA puts out problems with Lobster- are they trying to make me cry?

So in the end here is what they are saying- FDA warns against eating lobster liver (Tomalley) but the meat is fine. A red tide (algae bloom) is the cause of this and the high levels of toxins that cause paralytic shellfish poisoning. Symptoms usually appear within two hours of exposure- including tingling and numbness of the mouth, face or neck, muscle weakness, headache and nausea.
