Free Wine Tasting to Benefit Children in Local Foster Care

KidsPeace 3rd Annual Wine Tasting
September 17th from 6 to 9 p.m.
Corridor Fine Wines
3321 Corridor Marketplace
Laurel, MD 20724

KidsPeace is gearing up for their 3rd annual wine tasting, hosted by Corridor Fine Wines in Laurel. Proceeds will benefit innovative KidsPeace initiatives like The Money Club, a program that teaches Maryland and D.C. children in foster care about budgeting, credit card use and abuse, and the importance of smart money management. What we want for our children is no different than what any parent wants for a child: to have happy, healthy childhoods followed by successful adulthoods. The main focus is to help local youth in foster care develop important skills for independent living. Sadly, far too many youth “aging out” of the foster care system find themselves jobless and homeless as young adults, unprepared for the challenges of life. Help prevent kids from becoming statistics by supporting these grass-roots programs. You can make a real difference!

“Our goal with the money clubs is for our children to leave the system with a different view of money and to be able to have enough money to put a deposit on an apartment, purchase work clothes, or just have an emergency fund,” says Diane Sancilio, District Manager for KidsPeace Foster Care and Family Services.

Admission is free and the wine tastings and light refreshments are complimentary. Eight tasting stations will feature exciting wines from Spain and Portugal, France, Italy, Germany and Austria, Australia, South Africa, South America and California. Wine experts will be on hand to answer questions. In addition, there will be a silent auction, a prize raffle, and goody bags with purchases. Thirty percent of all wine sales and all silent auction proceeds go directly to KidsPeace to fund life skills programs for youth in foster care. So come enjoy yourself. Feel good while doing good.

Check it out!

And with the Dining Out for Life the following day (to benefit Movable Feast to help shut-in AIDS patients), next week is a great week to help people!
