50 Cents a Scoop

So last night while out doing some last minute Thanksgiving Day/Black Friday food shopping we stopped in at Don Pablo's for dinner. Now even though its a chain we like to go here every now and then because the food is pretty good and the prices are great. We also always find that the staff here is friendly and on top of things.

Now I know right now our country is going through an economic strain and it is taking a toll on restaurants. It is amazing how many offers I get in my email and specials you see being run on TV to help get people to come in. But my question is this.... is charging 50 cents a scoop for sour cream gone to far? I like to dip a lot of my mexican food in sour cream. Well my meal last night didn't come with any. So asked for some- my server's replay was very apologetic and that they now charge 50 cents a scoop. So I passed- some may think this is cheap of me but I felt for a scoop of sour cream I shouldn't have to pay for it in a Mexican restaurant. Now we hit it of with our server very well and had some nice pass by conversations. So about 5 minutes after I asked he snuck up behind me and handed me some sour cream and said "you guys have made me laugh and I am in a good mood- don't worry about the 50 cents." So of course we tipped him very well and I was thankful.

So have things gone to far? Do you feel it was ok to charge for it? I would love to hear some other peoples opinions!
