A Call For Support Please!

For those who read this blog you know I am the author of this blog but I am also a member and secretary of Northern Maryland Alumnae chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha. We are hosting “Zeta in the City” on March 28, 2009 which is the yearly convention for both collegiate and alumnae of Zeta Tau Alpha in the Maryland area. This event will benefit the Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation and its efforts to support educational programming, scholarships, leadership development, and breast cancer education & awareness.

The Zeta Tau Alpha Foundation champions many worthy programs and projects dedicated to improving the lives of women, their campuses and communities. ZTA supports education by providing collegiate scholarships annually; more than $250,000 was awarded for the 2007-2008 academic year. In addition, we develop educational programs aimed at informing women and their communities about social issues such as eating disorders, alcohol awareness and date rape. Leadership development is also promoted through presentations made at college campuses across the country.

In addition, the ZTA Foundation joins in the fight against breast cancer through the support of the Susan G. Komen for the Cure®. The ZTA Foundation is a member of the Komen Million Dollar Council, donating over 1.8 million dollars to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure since 1992. As a co-sponsor of the National Series Breast Cancer Survivor Recognition Program, ZTA provides the signature pink T-shirts and caps for survivors. Back signs and ZTA breast self-exam stickers are also made available for Race participants.

Further, Zeta Tau Alpha has encouraged the public to THINK-PINK!® with the distribution of 9.75 million waterproof BSE cards, 3.5 million pink awareness ribbons, and 6 million ZTA BSE Calendar Reminder Stickers. Our chapter has organized breast cancer education and awareness events with the University of Maryland women’s basketball team and the Baltimore Orioles, collected Yoplait pink yogurt lids for the “Save Lids to Save Lives” campaign, and volunteered at The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

We are asking for your help in collecting donations to serve as door prizes and raffles for this event. We are looking for items to fill 300 gifts bags; these might be candy, pens, pencils, and notepads. We are also looking for donations for raffles, such as: gift cards to restaurants/stores.

Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity has over 1,000 collegiate members and alumnae in the Maryland and Washington, DC area. We are expecting approximately 350 representatives to attend our 2009 convention. We hope you will support our philanthropic and educational goals with a contribution from you company. By making a cash contribution or an in-kind donation to the Zeta Day, you are helping us advocate the important endeavors discussed above. At the same time, you are supporting your community and a significant cause for women and their families in your area.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

If you would like to support us in anyway please email me at PandaLHU@gmail.com
