New management for Nick's Fish House brings the beach to Baltimore

Owners of Famed Starboard Restaurant in Dewey Beach, DE and Big Fish Grill in Rehoboth Beach, DE team up to officially take over this waterfront institution

As of Wednesday, January 21, owners of several Delaware beach restaurants announced they have officially taken over management of Nick’s Fish House & Grille in Baltimore.  Under the shorter name of just Nick’s Fish House, the restaurant is currently open and will remain open during its upcoming remodel and new menu launch later this spring.

Steve “Monty” Montgomery is renowned for the success of Starboard Restaurant, also known as the heart of Dewey Beach and home of “The World’s Best Bloody Mary Bar.”  Montgomery will continue that practice as one of the new operators of Nick’s Fish House, and looks forward to bringing a bit of the beach to Baltimore.  He is joined by his business partner, Jim Weisgerber, of the fabulous Bethany Blues BBQ in Bethany and Lewes, DE.  Jim has taken both of the Bethany Blues restaurants and put them on the map as ‘must eats’ when you spend time at the beach!  The real treat for those that love FRESH seafood is the addition of Eric Sugrue and his Big Fish Restaurant Group.  Big Fish will play a major factor in the daily operation, as they will bring only the freshest ingredients to Nick’s Fish House allowing diners to enjoy daily fresh fish and seafood delights.

With renovations and improvements to be made over the next couple of months, Nick’s Fish House plans to remain open for lunch and dinner throughout most of the remodeling.  They hope for very minimal inconvenience to restaurant operations while work is in progress.

“My partners and I are thrilled to be part of such a Baltimore institution,” said Steve “Monty” Montgomery.  “We are keeping the restaurant’s original staff and will continue the tradition on providing the freshest seafood and quality service that Baltimoreans have enjoyed on the waterfront at Nick’s for years.”

Eric Sugrue of the Big Fish Restaurant Group states, “We feel we can create a menu that incorporates current Nick’s top sellers along with Big Fish’s top sellers to ensure a nice transition for the new Nick’s Fish House.  Within a few months we will create a new ‘look’ to the menu, which emphasizes quality fresh fish, seafood, #1 Live Crabs, Center Cut Angus Steaks and Chops, an assortment of great salads and appetizers plus delicious desserts.  A really cool raw bar and new menu will be a top priority.”

Stay tuned as once this group gets into Nick’s Fish House and gets going…Baltimore is in for a genuine treat on this beautiful waterfront property!
