Ruth's Chris to open at Village at Odenton Station

Ruth’s Chris Steak House is coming to The Village at Odenton Station, located in West Anne Arundel County opposite the Odenton MARC Rail Station. Ruth’s Chris Steak House, ranked first among the nation’s fine dining concepts for three consecutive years by Nation’s Restaurant News magazine, plans to open in Spring 2016.
The Village at Odenton Station was selected for the new Ruth’s Chris Steak House location for its opportunity to capture a fast-growing, professional population, with strong income levels due to ongoing growth at Ft. Meade, the National Security Agency and National Business Park, and the expansion of health-related services.  Ruth’s Chris Steak House will be situated to welcome over 2,600 daily MARC commuters for a cocktail and a bite to eat from the Sizzle, Swizzle and Swirl lighter fare menu in the bar, dining room, or outdoor on the patio, where they can relax after work.

New Taste of Everyman Series Entices Foodies and Mixologists

Everyman Theatre has announced a brand new series for the 2015/16 season called Taste of Everyman. A pre-show tasting series, Taste will feature signature spirits and cocktails paired to complement the theme of each show. Guests will enjoy a presentation from a guest cocktails expert about the particular spirits. Hors d’oeuvres will be curated by Chef Chad Wells of the nearby restaurant Ale Wife.

The series will kick off on Thursday, September 17, prior to a performance of An Inspector Calls.Attendees will enjoy selections of port wines to complement the events of a turn of the century dinner party seen in the show.

Next up will be a tasting of Tullamore Irish whiskeys tasting in conjunction with Outside Mullingar, a romantic comedy set in the rural countryside of Ireland. This event will take place on Thursday, December 17.

The third and final event will take place on Thursday, January 28prior to a performance of Under the Skin. The Philadelphia setting of the new dramatic comedy will inspire a tasting of cocktails made from Blue Coat gin, which is distilled in the City of Brotherly Love.

All tastings begin at 6:00PM with the show to follow at 7:30PM. Tickets are $60 for individual ticket holders (includes tasting and show) or $25 as a subscriber add-on. Attendees must be aged 21 or older. Each reception is limited to 50 guests. To purchase tickets, visit www.everymantheatre.org.

Great Baltimore Oyster Festival

Enjoy the first-ever Great Baltimore Oyster Festival! The family friendly event includes interactive Chesapeake Bay-themed vendors and displays, oyster boat tours, educational activities and live music by the Eastport Oyster Boys and The High & Wides.

Guests can also indulge in Greater Baltimore’s impressive selection of oysters (grilled and raw), along with local food trucks. Beer, wine and mixed drinks are also available for purchase.

The festival is presented by the Waterfront Partnership of Baltimore, Chesapeake Bay Foundation and Healthy Harbor Initiative.

Wild Kombucha is on its way to be one of Baltimore's favorites!

There is a new Baltimore based drink that is taking the town by storm and it isn’t beer or wine its Kombucha!  Kombucha has been around they believe around 5,000 years.  Here in Baltimore, Mobtown Fermentation is brewing two flavors of their own Kombucha – mango-peach and ginger-grapefruit.

Not only is Kombucha a great tasting beverage but it is also loaded with vitamins and acids that help strengthen the immune system. You can also find that it has probiotics and enzymes that are known to help with digestion and boosts liver function.

I had the chance to sit down with the guys behind Motown Fermentation and learn how it becomes to be what it is today!  Mobtown Fermentation started off with Adam taking what he learned from their parents and started brewing it and selling to JHU students.  As demand increase his brother Sergio started to help and sales spread across Hampden.  From there a childhood friend, Sid, joined on to create Mobtown Fermentation and Wild Kombucha. 

You can find Wild Kombucha being sold at local markets and cafes through out the city (with rumors of larger establishments in the works).  There are even restaurants and bars that feature Wild Kombucha in some crafty cocktails.   Be sure to visit their website, Facebook and twitter for store locations, events and tastings.


Wild Kombucha has become a staple in out fridge and we can’t decide with of the two flavors is our favorite!

Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament Enters Semi-Finals

The If you haven't been out this year to a match, now's the time! The Mason Dixon Master Chef Tournament, the largest culinary competition of its kind in the Mid-Atlantic, is set to enter Semi-Final competition next week! The original field of 16 top chef teams is now down to just four, with only three matches remaining to determine the 2015 Champion! 
 
Chef teams from Renditions Golf (Davidsville), Colony South Hotel (Clinton), My Thai Baltimore (Baltimore), and Gourmet Again/Blue Bistro & Catering (Pikesville) are vying for over $10,000 in cash and prizes. Prizes for the Champions will include $1,000 cash, a 2-day all-expense paid trip to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to tour Crave Brothers, the New Glaris Beer Plant, and the Emmi Roth USA Plant, as well as attend the Culinary Executive Center for Cheese Course Plates and Fondue for lunch provided by sponsor Emmi-Roth USA, a professional-grade convection oven provided by sponsor Vulcan, a Robo Coupe immersion blender, along with numerous other culinary prizes, and of course the title of 2015 Mason Dixon Master Chef Champions! In addition, there will be special awards and prizes of close to $2,000 awarded for Best Appetizer, Best Entrée, Best Dessert, People’s Choice, and a “Rising Star Award” for an up-and-coming sous chef.  
 
Matches are being held at the Inn at the Colonnade, a Doubletree by Hilton in Baltimore (4 West University Parkway, Baltimore). Semi-Final match details are listed below. 10% of each ticket sold goes directly to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, the competition’s charity partner.

$65 for judging experience (includes tax)

The $35 General Admission ticket price includes admission to that night’s competition, wine tasting, passed hors d’oeuvres during happy hour, dessert and coffee bar, all taxes and a 10% donation to charity. The $65 Judging Experience tickets include all of the above, plus guests get to taste all six courses prepared by the chefs and be part of the voting to help determine the night’s winner.
 
In addition, the organizers are planning to have a number of raffle and door prizes to give out each night, as well as the usual free “upgrade” of two General Admission ticketholders to the premium “Judging Experience” tickets. 
 
Tickets are on sale now, and are expected to sell out quickly.
